Jake von Slatt, or Hieronymus Isambard "Jake" von Slatt, is the proprietor of steampunkworkshop.com, has been featured in Make and Wired magazines and is one of, if not the, foremost steampunk artist in the known universe.

I felt like hack doing this in light of the fact that he makes gear and brimstone fantasies come to life. Enjoy!

(PS as of this posting, YouTube hasn't figured out my upload yet, I apologize for the giant gray camera-watch.)

032_cocktail_robot

Bit out of order, but YouTube is failing to process #31. Should be up shortly.

This robot comes from a gentlemen who participates in what's known as Roboexotica. Which, at first, sounds worse than it is. It's the practice of building robots that aide in the delivery and mixing of alcoholic beverages, which is much cooler than the other obvious lexical alternative. Enjoy.

Based off the CEO (Cyborg-in-Chief) of Street Tech, Gareth Branwyn.

This one was more interesting to read about. Someone at MIT (presumably a group) is working with a Barrett WAM Arm to test grasping algorithms. The idea being they want to be able to make sure the arm's programming is right for household things like helping put groceries away.

The cool part - to me - is they named their arm Lludd, after Lludd Llaw Eraint otherwise know as "Lludd of the Silver Hand." Lludd is a Welsh folk hero who lost his arm in battle. It was replaced by one made of silver. Neat huh?

Blogger

Blogger seems to have some issues this morning. No information was lost, but all blogger.com sites were unavailable for a couple hours today. On their behalf I apologize for any inconvenience.

For those coming in from suicidebots or streettech, welcome! I hope you enjoy the art and short videos. If you have any questions about the project or about getting a drawing, just drop me a line.

Carry on.

What that means is there's plenty of time for you to get an original piece of custom art for dirt cheap. It's just $10 for a hand drawn robot cartoon or robot portrait.
